Found Dog in Big Island, Arkansas near Tischnor, Arkansas (Desha County)

By ALFPN Schielke

Description: Medium red colored dog with white markings on his chest. This dog showed up at the Dumas Camp on Big Island Friday. He came home to McGehee with us since we could not find his owner. We took him to Paws and Claws Humane Society. They are going to check him for microchip and heartworms. If we are unable to find his owner in the next couple of days, they are going to find him a new home. We checked with multiple camps on Big Island, but no one recognized him. With our camp being right on the bank of the Arkansas River and close to the White and Mississippi Rivers, he could have jumped off a private boat or river boat. They have been logging over there also, so he could be one of the loggers’ dog. He has some old scarring, so we just don’t know…. he is house broken and neutered, very friendly and wants to be right next to you. He did not react to any of the wildlife that we passed, so we don’t believe he is a hunting dog. I just called AR Game and Fish Comm, Anderson-Tully (logging company) and Corp of Engineers and left my contact info……..
